[technology-projects] Some Technology Projects being terminated

Hey folks. Just FYI that several Technology projects have
termination/archive reviews scheduled to complete tomorrow. All these
projects have been contacted and the project leads have been involved in
the process where possible. Your input is still valued. Please have a look.

Immediately after the project archivals are complete, I will start the
process of installing Gunnar Wagenknecht as Lead for the Technology PMC.

It's that time again.Â In order to plan for the upcoming Helios
Release we are asking all participating projects to:

enter a contribution questionnaire for all third party packages that
you wish to include in your release prior to February 5, 2010 (end of
helios M5); and
enter a comment on anyÂCQ/ÂIPZilla bugÂ that you need for the
simultaneous release indicating that the package is needed for Helios.

We will annotate all the relevantÂCQs/ÂIPBugs with the keyword
"helios" and use that list to plan our reviews for the next six
months.ÂÂYour projectâs participation in this activity is critical for
your successful inclusion on the train:Â packages submitted by
participating projects prior to the February 5, 2010 deadline will be
given priorityÂover all other submissions during scheduling.

release train, you have to express your intention via the Eclipse
Portal dashboard (portal.eclipse.org)

I would also update the wiki appropriately.

within the scope of my diploma thesis at the University of Paderborn, Germany, with the title "Study about communication and collaboration in software development in teams" I am conducting a survey of members of software development teams.

This is the official description of the survey:

In the last years many means of communication and collaboration were introduced in software projects to assist the development teams with their daily work.

With this study we want to identify requirements for a communication- and collaboration-supporting platform for software development. For this purpose we will evaluate the utilization and effectiveness of different means of communication and collaboration in solving software and managerial problems in software development teams.

The survey will take about 10-15 minutes and contains 55 questions that cover various topics.

[technology-projects] Eclipse Summit Europe proposals deadline approaches

Hi Technology PMC-types and project members.

Eclipse Summit Europe 2009 will be held again this year in beautiful Ludwigsburg, Germany on October 27-29. The deadline to submit your proposals is August 18th. That date is not very far away.

I encourage you to submit a proposal about your project (and other topics of interest) sooner rather than later to ensure that your submission has adequate exposure to the selection committee.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask your friendly-neighbourhood PMC.

[technology-projects] Communicating intent to join the Galileo release train

Howdy Technology projects,

Here's a reminder that projects must have stated and demonstrated their intent to join Galileo by the M4+0 date, which is coming December 12th.

Projects can state intent by adding themselves to bug 251715 and each of the P1 bugs used to define "Must-Do" requirements for train participation. From the technology top-level project, I see:
- DLTK
- MAT
- JWT (have you confirmed intent?)

Note that joining the train is a great way to get exposure for your project and help build community.

[technology-projects] EclipseCon Submissions deadline is coming...

Hey folks. The deadline for proposals for EclipseCon 2009 is next Monday. As of today, there are three proposals in the system by Technology projects under the Emerging Technology category. If one of these talks is yours, please ignore the rest of this note.

If you have filed a proposal that's related to a Technology project under a different category, please let me know. If the talk gets rejected by that category, I'll do what I can to move into the Emerging Technology category.

If you have not yet submitted a talk proposal, please do.

If you are on the BCC of this note, then you are--according to the foundation database--a current project lead on a technology project. Please make sure that your project is represented at EclipseCon 2009. Talk to your project team; make sure that somebody registers their proposal today.

If you have any questions, please feel free to either post them on the technology-pmc mailing list, or send them directly to me.
