Re: [technology-pmc] Eclipse eGerrit has no committers

Well apparently suggesting that I would pick up this thread in early January was overly ambitious...

Can I get a +1 from one other PMC member, please?

Greetings PMC.

With the retirement of their single active committer and project lead, the Eclipse eGerrit project is left unstaffed (I've left the committer active in the PMI for now, since removing him will trigger a bunch of backend stuff that will cause unnecessary work by the webmaster). Unfortunately, that committer was unable to elect a replacement before retiring.

Our friends at Ericsson have identified a staff member, Viet-Hung Phan (Hung), who is able to take on the committer and project lead roles to resuscitate the project. This individual has not, AFAICT, made any direct contributions to the eGerrit project, but has contributed numerous commits to the Eclipse TraceCompass project.

I have informed Hung that the project is due for a release review and intend to coach him through that process in the new year. I will also impress upon him the importance of growing the project team.

I would like your approval to declare this to be an extraordinary circumstance, and appoint Hung as both committer and project lead of Eclipse eGerrit.

By way of expectation management, the EMO will be shut down for two weeks, starting at EOB today. I will pick up this thread on Monday, January 4/2021.

Thanks,

Wayne
