A committer election for Benjamin Thomas on project Eclipse OMR (technology.omr) was started by Filip Jeremic with this criteria: Ben Thomas (@aviansie-ben) has been a contributor to the OMR project for the past two years. During this time he has established himself as a go-to point of contact for POWER related work within the compiler. His most recent contributions into modernizing the POWER code generator [1], implementing the codegen unit test framework [2], and huge contributions to the POWER 10 support within OMR have really stood out among our contributors. Ben is among the top 10 contributors to OMR [5] and he has contributed large pieces of work in his 55 pull requests, many of which are built up of very well documented commits along with code documentation and clean logic. Ben can be frequently seen in various other non-POWER related PRs/issues (such as RISV-V, areas of Tril, codegen design, etc.) sharing his thoughts on design and direction we should take the project in, most of which aligns with the direction we as committers envision in the OMR project's future. He is a regular attendee and contributor (with presentations under his belt) to the OMR Architecture calls. Such contributions should be cherished and promoted within our community which is why with a great deal of enthusiasm am proposing for Ben to join the committer team. I have absolutely no doubts that Ben will continue to flourish within our community and I strongly believe he would be a valuable addition to our committer team to aid in improving/implementing/reviewing the POWER codegen contributions and other areas of OMR.
