Re: [technology-pmc] Requesting Approval for 2.2.1 Maintenance Release of Eclipse ICE

Thanks very much guys.

I suppose I should come clean and confess. I did this on a service release because I was teaching junior members of my team how to do it and I didn't want to teach them on a release "that mattered." I walked them through the whole process today. I tend to do these exercises for my team without letting the rest of the community know, but I should have told everyone that I was going to do this "fire drill."

As it turns out, it was valuable beyond being an educational exercise though because Wayne caught a bug in our target that we haven't fixed yet (inclusion of the Jython Engine).

Correct. Release reviews and IP Log reviews are not required for service releases.

Hi Jay,

My understanding was service releases did not require release reviews
and ip logs, quote below from
https://wiki.eclipse.org/Development_Resources/HOWTO/Release_Reviews#Reviews_are_Not_Required_for_Service_Releases.
I hope someone on the PMC confirms my understanding.

Reviews are Not Required for Service Releases

Note that a release review is not required for a service--or "bug fix
only"--release. If your release contains no new features, APIs, or
significant changes in functionality, you may release it without
engaging in a community review. You should still create the release
record in the PMI to notify your community. Service releases are
indicated by an increment in the third segment of the version number
(e.g. 2.3.2).

Note also that projects are not required to submit IP logs for review
by the IP Team for service releases. Projects are required to ensure
that they have the appropriate coverage for all intellectual property
(e.g. CQs and contribution records) at all times.

Dear PMC,

We have put together a quick maintenance release of Eclipse ICE to address

Will you approve this release please?
