Re: [technology-pmc] Committer nominations

Marcel,

I didn't mean to accuse or blame the mentors; after re-reading it I realize my message sounded somewhat accusatory but that's not what I intended. I apologize.

Having said that, I think your response does answer the second part of question A: our process seems to be NOT effectively engaging new projects with their mentors (in some cases). Since I've never been a mentor nor a new project lead, can any of you identify where there is potential to more forcefully encourage new project leaders to communicate with their mentors? If we're seeing this communication/understanding failure with regard to nominations, it suggests to me that there are probably other areas where the new projects are missing out on valuable guidance that the mentors could provide.

The ‘problem’ with  mentors mentoring is that there was no communication yet. Some (of my) projects contact their mentors. But Che does not.
What would you expect from a mentor in that case (what’s not already covered in the general committer and project guidelines)?

Best,
Marcel

PMC,

It appears that we have another new project (Che) whose leadership misunderstands the committer nomination process. My questions are:

A) Aren't the project mentors supposed to inform them of the policies, including nominations? Are we doing a poor job of engaging the mentors with new project leaders?
B) Where is the wiki page that describes the policy? I know I've sent it out in the past but can't locate it now.
C) This project already has 13 comitters, and now there are 8-10 new nominees. Does that seem a bit much for a new project?

Eric
