Uploading usage data is problematic. Privacy concerns need to be addressed. The
upload target is also something that needs to be sorted out: it's generally
inappropriate for an Eclipse project to upload user data to a university
server. The obvious solution is to push this data to an EF server, but that
introduces a number of problems (not the least of which is that managing an
EF-based server will require EF resource bandwidth).
We should move this discussion to the PMC list. Can you please initiate a
discussion on technology-pmc@xxxxxxxxxxx about this contribution? We'll need to
better understand what this contribution does before we can move forward with
it.
