Re: [technology-pmc] Subversive release review for Indigo

Hi Pascal, Wayne,

Yes, right. Now we have two update sites: one on Eclipse with Subversive and Integrations, another is on Polarion with connectors. If only Subversive features is installed (we need both Subversive + connectors to work) the Connectors discovery feature prompts to install connectors from Polarion update site. Corresponding licenses info are displayed on installation steps, so users know that they install connectors from outside.

As I wrote in previous e-mail - there are no technical problems with the current distribution scheme except that SVN plug-in should be installed in two steps. But it rather organizational problem that prevents project graduation.

Best regards,

Igor Vinnykov

I believe that this pretty accurately describes what the project is doing today. With the exception that some user interaction is required to explicitly agree to the terms of the licenses involved.

What about the following:

- The subversive repository hosted at eclipse reference an external repository that is also enabled. The referenced repository contains the GPL libraries in a p2 repo.

- The subversive repository hosted at eclipse contains one IU (maybe the subversive feature) has an optional dependency on the GPL library.

This way when the user installs the subversive feature the GPL library is automatically pulled down by virtue of the dependency, but eclipse has never hosted anything that is GPL.

Hi Igor. How do you define "required" in "Board allows GPL code to be required" on slide 15? Is this different from the Workswith dependency the project already has on SVNKit?

FWIW, the "Board allows GPL code to be distributed from eclipse.org" option is a non-starter.
