Re: [technology-pmc] Re: Please schedule a Move/Creation review for the IDE4EDU project

We do a Declaration when the proposal is ready, and that serves as an announcement since it's an email to members and committers. What you've written as an announcement will probably work very well as a Declaration.

The BPMN Modeler sub-project just went from being an STP component to an STP sub-project, and we started (officially) with a proposal. That should work for this as well.

Thanks for offering to do MORE than you need! :-)

But isn't it the case that I need to provide an announcement to the membership in advance of the proposal?

Wayne, I believe you'll need a proposal rather than an announcement for this Move. Currently the Development Process doesn't allow the "announcement process" any more. Everything is a project, so the creation of anything needs a proposal and then a Creation Review. Thanks.

Hi EMO.

I would like to move IDE4EDU component from the SOC project into its own independent project. I believe that this requires a creation review. Can you please schedule a creation review for the IDE4EDU project?

Here is a blurb that you can use to announce this to the membership.

The Eclipse IDE for Education (IDE4EDU) is a version of Eclipse streamlined specifically for use by university and college students. The environment provides support for programming languages that are commonly used in university courses, including Java, Scheme, and Prolog (though only Java is supported for the time being). IDE4EDU is currently a component under the SOC project that we intend to turn into an independent project under the Technology Project.
