Re: [technology-pmc] Third party dependencies in ACTF (accessibility APIs)

Kentarou-san,
The MSAA and IA2 dependencies will be categorized as "exempt pre-req".

Thank you for asking and I apologize for the delay,
Bjorn

Dear Technology PMC members,

I received the guideline for the 3rd party dependencies when I tried to
use the OOo in ACTF
(http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/technology-pmc/msg00761.html). Then
I found that I might need to get another approval for my previous
contribution CQ1867
(https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1867).

In the CQ, we have a component "accessibility service" that provides a way
to access accessibility information from applications via the
accessibility APIs (Microsoft Active Accessibility (MSAA) and IAccessible2
(IA2)). To use this function, we assume the existence of these
accessibility information providers.

MSAA is a standard component of the Windows. So, our component can always
get accessibility information via MSAA in a standard Windows environment.
In addition to this, our component get IA2 information if an information
provider of IA2 exists in the user environment.

I would like to know how we can categorize this dependency.

In addition to this, the specification of IA2 API is published under LGPL
(http://accessibility.freestandards.org/a11yspecs/ia2/docs/html/). In the
contribution, we do not use any LGPL material (such as IDL file, etc.) to
build the code, but we use their identifiers (IDs, method names, etc.) to
call APIs. Do I need to create additional CQ to use these APIs?

If there are another actions I need to take, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,
