Re: [tcf-dev] TCF Terminal Local shell on MacOS?

Hi Martin,

ah Terminals! I thought Terminals was contributed by RSE. The local
connector works nicely on MacOS. However, I cannot run emacs in the
vt100/ansi emulation. As far as I remember, when I created the
first version of the emulator, I was able to run emacs. But it
maybe, the mac version of emacs sends escape sequences not supported
by the emulation....

I find it always difficult, if a feature is called "TCF Terminal" and
what is contributes has a very different name:
  Window->Views->Target Explorer Views->Terminals
(I think the "Views" in the category name should be eliminated, because it
is redundant). I would search for commands or views containing "TCF"...

What's also really funny, is, that the "RSE Terminal" and the
"TCF Terminal" share the same "Terminal" preference page (which is
actually good, else it would be too confusing)...

I have not followed the latest enhancements in the terminal. I wonder
if any of the following has been addressed:

- Is there a way to change the title of the tabs (I use the escape sequence on
the command line to change it [http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Xterm-Title-3.html])
- Is there a way to send commands form outside to the terminal
(like running an external command in the terminal)
- Is there a way to get notified, if new output has appeared on the
  terminal?

Thank you for the great work!

Michael

Hi Michael,

Last time I checked, TCF Terminal worked nice on the Mac.

The point is, you need to start it differently: Either Window > Show View > Terminals
(mind the trailing S!) or you press the "Terminals" toolbar button, or you type Ctrl+Shift+T
(as written on the marketplace listing).

The Legacy TM Terminal is going to be phased out, and we do not provide a Local Connector for it.

Thanks,
Martin

Subject: [tcf-dev] TCF Terminal Local shell on MacOS?

Hi,

I just installed the "TCF Terminal" from the marketplace into my Luna Eclipse JEE. It seems to replace the RSE terminal (at least it added the Serial connector). But I don't see a connector for a local shell.

Is MacOS not supported for the TCF Terminal or has the TCF Terminal not been properly installed?

Michael
