So, I've tried this out with

Eclipse 3.5M7 32-bit  Cocoa
Eclipse 3.5RC1 32-bit  Cocoa
Eclipse 3.5RC1 64-bit  Cocoa

and it has gone swimmingly in every case - no
sign of any NPE's in the log, I'm afraid!

This could be some bad handling of a network
transient, perhaps? Does it happen every time
you try to download?
