Re: [stp-dev] RE : Eclipse STP setup info : build system ?

Adrian,

Sorry for not respnding fast. I have been on the roda and I am at the ObjectWeb conference now (but had a chance to meet some of your people). To get the code donation in to a build. I have not been able to get your proposal but if you do not mind forwarding it to me again I will quickly comment.

Setting up tthe build should not take more than a day.

Hi Naci,

I'm not sure if you read it but I circulated a proposal to the STP news group last week regarding the current build systems used to build plugins for IONA's eclipse plugins. I was hoping that at todays meeting we could have a chat about the WTP build system and what I proposed and find where the overlaps are and what we can do to get this build system of the ground. However, for personal reasons I'm not able to attend the meeting this evening. Would you have some time to spare later this week when we could have a chat about the build system and finally get the STP work kick started so it can start to accommodate code donations?

Regards,
Adrian.

Carl,

There is already an area setup under build.eclipse.org for STP

/shared and some software installed under /shared/commons

All STP committers should already have login access to build.eclipse.org. WebMaster (Denis), created a group for stp builds and adds the stp committers that we would decide to be in the "build masters" group, that will enable them to run builds in that designated area.

So, once PMC decides who they will be, sending an email to Denis is usually sufficient.

There are different build models we can follow. I am most familiar with wtp, which is quite similar to eclipse platform build process but automated. EMF project also has a good build process but driven manually. Scripts and concepts are very similar but a few minor variances.

Naci,

What is involved in getting us set up on buuld.eclipse.org?

Carl

My preference is to use build.eclipse.org

+ It is a much better dedicated server,
  4 CPU 16 GB RAM
IBM P5 64 bit PPC with SUSE

+ it has local access to eclipse cvs, downloads and others
+ And eclipse foundation provides ssh access

This is great, how does access to the server work for those that
want to help setup the build system

Carl.

Here is the server configuration that could be provided temporarily by
ObjectWeb.

Alain

The configuration of the server we can provide is :

CPU: 2xPentium3 1GHz (250kb cache) RAM: 640 MO SDRAM
HD: 2x32 GB SCSI with 15 GB left

OS: Red Hat Enterprise 4 - Kernel 2.6.9 - Sun's JRE 1.4.2_10 and 1.5.0_6

The machine is currently used for the nightly builds of c-jdbc, jonas
and celtix.

Regards
