EBOLA

Promising Early Results on Vaccine Trials
A preliminary report shows that an experimental Ebola vaccine appears safe and effective, according to results published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

100% of the subjects in the US, Switzerland, and Germany given the recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus-based vaccine (rVSV) vaccine developed a promising immune response, and reported no serious side effects, according to the international group of researchers.

As the participants were not actually exposed to the Ebola virus after vaccination, the measure of the vaccine’s effectiveness is based on antibody data from primate studies.
