STEM Community Call, November 5, 2015 On the call: Jamie, Matt, Stefan, Kun, Nereyda, Chris, Judy Next call is scheduled for Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 9 am Pacific, 12 noon Eastern 1. STEM Version 3.0 Milestone 1 status Up on October 22, 3.0.1 is the Java 8/Eclipse 4 build; now the root, has been merged in build For instructions on how to use, go to wiki page Welcome STEM Developers, find Setting up the Development Environment, and go down on left to Migrating to STEM 3.0.1 Jamie & Stefan have tried on Macs; Chris and Nereyda to try on Windows 2. Review of deferred feature requests Restricting air travel for certain compartments: Nereyda will define by end of year New plug in to measure poverty: Inactive (JK) Plug in for roads in Africa: Inactive (JK) Batch to control sequencer: Not soon, but a higher priority than others Log automated experiments: IBM India problem (bug 465981). Jamie couldn’t duplicate; thinks may be related to unusual directory; Kun will ask Kamesh to attach scenario to bug so it can be checked out Modify sequencer to get automatic experiments to run batch: Problem arose with ebola data. Issue was how to measure change in the R0 over time; Kun will write out short paragraph/bullets on what is needed to make this task easier Extend shape file capabilities per October discussion with Matthias: Pajek files and importing polygons. Issue is how to show polygons (e.g., farms) in a custom graph; wouldn’t be a Pajek standard. Chris will talk with Matthias to clarify 3. Bugs Bug 465981. Dengue model, bug with running experiments. See under item 2 above 4. Updates American Public Health Association (APHA) meeting: Stefan attended one session on modeling (ebola); used an agent model to model people moving between hospitals. Kun attended sessions on vaccines (Beijing and polio vaccine, IPV vs. OPV, wild virus; MMR in South America), also campylobacter. Both discussed use of STEM with attendees. Synergies with BfR and Food Safety Institute in China: Chris will discuss possible collaborations with Matthias Nereyda: New collaborative online ezine, Global Biodefense; non peer-reviewed news; George Mason encouraging contribution; will do article on STEM drawing on the wiki page information; Judy to help; update at next call. |
