STEM Community Call March 22, 2012

On call: Jamie, Stefan, Kun, Matthias, Chris, Alec, Judy

 

Added item, post call: Ready for a new integration build today

 

1. 1.3.1 Release data is 4/15

Date is still good; will freeze code early April

Stefan has updated the Plan Page

Jamie has updated the wiki front page, changed colors, put in two columns

TODO: Please review page, get back to Jamie w/ any comments

 

    Bug Fixes to 1.3.0

    STEM EMF update to version 2.7.2

    Generalized model replay mechanism (done)

    Shape File Importer: Improvements to GUI (done)

    Population Transformer: “realistic” sample model on food mediated disease transmission (on track, Chris)

    Graph Editor: improved zooming, deleting nodes and edges, improved GUI for new population generation (done)

    Replace population rewinding with an explicit population re-scaler (done)

    

2. NEW DOC FOR 1.3.1

3. MIGRATION EDGE GRAPH GENERATOR PROPOSAL

At issue: If we add migration, should do we offer an option to delete common borders?

Discussed on stem-dev; agreement on principle

Status: Not an immediate priority for BfR; Almaden team will assist Chris when time is right

 

4. DISEASE MODELS/POPULATIONS MODELS VIEW

Status: Done or on track; will be in 1.3.1; Stefan will change labels, rename list of diseases in properties file

i) Called "Decorators" view

ii) Default show this page on initial startup

iii) Tree Nodes with Population Models, Disease models

iv) List of Diseases...

                Influenza

                Chicken pox 

Salmonella (with Beef/Cattle Populations)?

v) Add description/help to view

vi) Document behaviors of drag and drop into project vs. model....

5. AUTO CREATION OF DISEASE MODEL/POPULATION MODEL STUBS USING JET

Matt has prototype. Stay tuned; Matt will be back April 10

Working towards simple (eventually graphical) automated process

 

6. BUGS OF THE WEEK: ASSIGNING BUGS

Bug 369825 deletion of graph elements in designer view: Assigned to Stefan

Bug 374112 projected map loggers bug (by Kassaye): Assigned to Matt

 

7. CONFERENCES

ISVEE13: Will hear back re proposals April 15

Jamie: Check out GLOBAL HEALTH 2012, The First International Conference on Global Health Challenges

October 21-26, 2012 - Venice, Italy; http://www.iaria.org/conferences2012/GLOBALHEALTH12.html

Almaden team probably will not be able to attend, might be of interest to others

 

8. BfR SUMMER WORKSHOP

Matthias: Envisions two separate workshops or two separate workshop days: (1) epidemiological modeling—STEM, KNIME, etc.; (2) general knowledge management issues—how to manage all info (e.g. email) in a crisis situation

Matthias: Will discuss possible invitees with upper level colleagues at BfR (e.g. sister authorities in Germany, Climate Institute) and get back to Jamie on this  

Jamie: Might consider universities; if BfR wants to invite Helmholtz Assoc, Jamie would be happy to speak with its President, Prof. Mlynek, who has visited Almaden

Matthias/Jamie: Will talk further about who to invite as guests

9. ITEMS FROM PARTICIPANTS

iv. Will have call 4/23 w/ telephone company in Japan interested in tracking flu, Jamie will report next week

CHRIS: Is working to speed up process w/colors, intensity on map

Jamie: Important to comment out old code and show where changes are in the event that what’s being produced in the map view might interact (e.g. interface w/ google map)

JUDY: Reviewed documentation from Stefan

Stefan: Will send more

KUN: Polio bug, will report next week
