STEM Community Call February 2, 2012
On call: Jamie, Stefan, Chris, Matt, Kun, Werner, Judy
1a. 1.3.0 RELEASE PLANNING
Stefan reported that Eclipse approved Release 1.3.0 yesterday
RC4 now up and available for testing; Judy will note on newsgroup
Target date for 1.3 is 2/7/2012; will allow coordination w/ Jamie’s blog post
1b. 1.3.1 PLAN
Plan is up; is tentative and open for improvements
>Make any comments/suggestions on STEM-DEV
>TO DO: Committers revise as needed, make sure revisions on STEM plan page are reflected on the wiki
2. NEW DOC FOR 1.3
>Documentation for Food Example (done) thanks to Chris
>Demo has been downloaded; not going to do other one
>Documentation on improved graph editor (done)
3. NEW ITEM: CREATE A STEM VIDEO FOR WIKIPEDIA?
Discussion of suggestion from Matthias to give STEM greater visibility
>Jamie suggested looking at Wikipedia entry on chicken pox, find something in article, e.g., on 10-21 days incubation, add language on latent period, link to mention of latent period on STEM
>Chris will confirm approach w/ Matthias (not on this week’s call), prepare, Jamie will excerpt video and post; can then look at where else to do same
4. MODELING OF FOOD MEDIATED DISEASES
Per last week’s discussion, “Food transformation” is now renamed “Population Transformation”; some plugins need renaming
5. SHAPE FILE IMPORT/IPZILLA
No major updates
6. OPEN BUGS
Multipopulation DM GUi (Chris' bug): Chris has resolved; years were different, so he reset
runparameters.txt for multipopulation dm: Need a population model to run a model
>Will (1) put in a warning, (2) make a rescaler a default w/ a combobox w/ options to rescale by parameter or by date
>TO DO: Add comments to bug; send to stem.dev
Change to UI (STEM-Library idea)
7. ITEMS FROM PARTICIPANTS
Chris renamed initializers “Standard Disease Initializer” and “External Data Source Initializer” from log files so old names don’t work; will update so scenarios on the website work
>To maintain backward compatibility, Chris will update, test, and commit to branch 2/2/12
>Matt will perform necessary processes; Chris will update scenarios to be ready w/ release on 2/7/12; will commit to trunk
Chris has had some integration tests fail (gets different numbers), will send to Almaden team if he can reproduce
Stefan: Using Chris’ work from the summer, have successfully run dengue fever “lite” w/o STEM
>Right click compile a potential feature for 1.3.1? Consider internally; would make STEM run faster
>Matt: UI is what limits performance; getting rid of UI would be major
Stefan had found something missing in calculator infector; Chris will replace initializers by infectors to solve problem
Werner will connect Matthias w/ some Germany contacts he has made
