[stem-dev] STEM Community Call Notes 5/26/11

STEM Community Call May 26, 2011

On the call: Stefan, Jan, Chris, Matt, Judy

Topics of the Week

Changes to the finite difference solver

·         While working on demographic model in which people age, Chris has implemented changes to make the finite difference solver “more correct” (take smaller time steps)

·         Hence doing new integration tests

Adding documentation for equations used by disease models

·         Item requested by Matthias

·         Working to define new extension point (Dublin core associated with it), link to website on the math behind it, so can see where it comes from, get more documentation

·         Will discuss on next week’s call

Comments on Matt’s suggestions for STEM features, repository reorg, etc.; STEM update site now live

·         Received, discuss comments from Jamie, Stefan; waiting for Dan to reply

·         Essentially more  structural than involving the application itself, hence not a prime concern for Bfr team

·         Published Earth Science data this week, update site now live

·         Next step: splitting up into features

·         Matt will prepare proposal on how/what to split into features, post strawman on stem-dev, newsgroup in next day or two, give a week for comments, then put into place

Items from participants

·         Matthias: Will do demo @ end of June

Items from Participants

Jan for Matthias: Can a German IBM group partner with Bfr? Need corporate partner to get funding from German government; Matt will tell Jamie, ask him to contact Matthias directly to discuss
