Task and Documentation Tracking

On call: Jamie, Matt, Stefan, Jan Pieper, Justin, Bryan, Dan, Werner, Judy

 

Welcome Jan Pieper  

·         New STEM team member from IBM

STEM Release 1.2.0

·         Date: 04/13/2011

·         Stefan: Yossi fixed new bug in release candidate (logger stopped working)

·         Jamie: Admin 3 data for US is for Vermont only; to eliminate confusion

·         Decision: Will move to a temporary Archive folder until whole US available

·         Matt: Should we branch at 1.2.0?

·         Decision: Put on stem-dev for consideration; when all new features for release are in, then branch?

·         Matt: Resolved issue with time series getting bogged down, UI events queuing up with at end of simulation

·         Jamie: Stefan ran 10 years simulation for Thailand with two populations in 10 seconds

New STEM Committers

·         Armin, Jan-Frederik, and Dirk (all at BFR in Berlin) elected new committers

·         Are finishing up Eclipse paperwork

Earth Science Data

·         Have data for 2000-2010 from NOAH @ NASA; developed plugin for 2009 for work @ Almaden

·         Working on tool for developers; would be useful to document process for developers who might have their own bit maps

·         Stefan and Jan Pieper: Looking at website where user could download, drop into STEM or a full fledged STEM update site; until update site is available, could offer like downloadable scenarios

·         Matt: Have right to put up data in public domain; need to confirm w/ Eclipse

·         Jamie: Have put up derived data once, got permission

·         Jamie: Need tool that lets user specify a path w/ info about the data; ask NASA how best to access

Graph Partitioning

·         Jamie: Working on this, pre-tiling of the world; can get to 5% balance; need to check communications costs

Graphical Editor

·         Defer until Dirk and Jan-Frederik are on call

Student Projects – Bryan & Justin

·         Working on patch for timestamp, ideas for future release

·         How to go to EMF model? Jamie: Stefan will do a demo on a desktop share

·         Posted survey on open source documentation another student is doing on stem-dev; Jamie: has completed

Items from Participants

Matt:  Re-investigating open GL and open CL runtimes approved for distribution w/ Eclipse; issue reopened; will contribute to discussion

Werner: Meeting in Bangalore rescheduled for May 6; Jamie will contact IBMers in Delhi, but doubts they will be able to attend, may not be working on STEM now; posted link to Tubola on newsgroup
