Task and Documentation Tracking
On call: Jamie, Byran, Justin, Dirk, Yossi, Stefan, Matt, Werner, Emma
Introductions
· New to call
o Bryan Hobbs and Justin Duperre, senior computer majors at Western New England College, working to define and do a project with STEM
o Emma McBryde, infectious disease doctor in Melbourne, Australia, interested in modeling TB, has done small models (e.g., in hospital to date); Jamie will try to find names of IBMers in Melbourne for her, she will send him name of person she has spoken with
o Dirk Reuter, biophysicist at BfR with Matthias, interested in spread of animal diseases (e.g., hoof and mouth), pathogens (e.g., dioxin)
Using STEM to Model TB (added)
· Jamie: 2008 article offers a basic SI model; question is what are good candidates for mathematical models. Core STEM team can help build a STEM model with a dozen parameters in about a day. Emma wants to look at HIV co-infection, age differences, drug resistant TB, treatment. Jamie: STEM (not an agent model) can partition by age group, multiple populations, multiple diseases, has framework for predicates, modifier and triggers. Emma is also interested in mosquitoes
· Emma will send Jamie a time for a smaller call to discuss next steps
Suggestions for Release 1.2
· Hopefully 1st release of the graphic editor
Testing
· Stefan: Wants to add integration testing (now tests available) before models are put up on site, also get information to developers
· Yossi: Options for doing so are available, e.g., can include in a weekly build; problem is not a matter of capability but of time
· Stefan will post item on stem-dev, email Yossi
· Matt raised question re continuous integration builds on the Hudson Serve; this also needs to be posted on stem.dev
Becoming Part of the STEM Community (added)
· If new to call, subscribe to stem-dev; can edit wiki; add bio and email address to wiki
· Volunteer to update the wiki on scenario creation (Dirk?) should keep alert Judy to what new has been added
Graphical Editor
· Because there is a formal contributor agreement with BfR, probably don’t need a CQ for Eclipse; Matt will confirm
· Matt will email Jan and ask him to re-factor it as a separate plugin (now a patch)
· Will then check in so we can test
Bug 335335
· Discovered by Dirk; Stefan will examine
· When drag from STEM library into a project, should be able to get a copy; system should object when drag scenario into sequencer
Conferences (added); Possible STEM Workshop
· Re conferences: Emma reports newly funded group Networking Infectious Disease Models in Australia, may have meeting in 2012, will keep Jamie posted; this year Emma will go to Boston for the Epidemics conference and to the March InServ (?) meeting in Warwick UK
· Jamie: Explored possibilities w/ Werner and Mike M (Eclipse) at two meetings; Eclipse can provide space at EclipseCon Europe or USA ; for Almaden travel budget an issue; symposium would involve fundraising, etc.; on prior calls, Jan (BfR) indicated 2011 best year
· Werner: will explore possibility of a “camp,” keep us posted
Participants
· Dirk: Query from Matthias and Jan about making physical copies; Stefan will follow up by email
· Emma: IBM Research Center in Australia? Matt: One in Melbourne will have 150 people in 5 years
Discussion with Bryan and Justin (added)
· Jamie: Not part of the call; all welcome to stay on
