[soc-dev] We've been accepted for GSoC 2020!

Good News!

The Eclipse Foundation has been selected as a mentoring organization for Google Summer of Code 2020. This is our fifteenth year participating in this awesome programme.

Eclipse Committers (potential mentors): if you're are interested in participating in the programme as mentors, please send a note to emo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx to request an invitation. Candidates must be existing committers on an Eclipse open source project. Please seed our list of potential student summer projects on our GSoC 2020 Ideas page.

Students: review our ideas page, our list of “help wanted” issues, and the issue trackers for our Eclipse open source projects. Please note that we will only accept projects that have direct relevance with one of our projects (be sure to cite the name of the relevant Eclipse open source project(s) in your proposal). Use the GSoC website to register your project idea with us. Keep in mind that our good friends at Google strictly enforce the deadlines indicated in the timeline. The Student Application Period starts on March 16 and ends on March 31, 2020. Use the time between now and March 16 to research ideas and connect with our project teams.

Students... this is not a job application. You need to submit (via the GSoC system) a proposal to do some discrete work over the summer. Do your homework. Our friends in the GSoC have assembled some very good documentation: read it. If you have an idea for a project you can use this list to ask about it. It is, however, better to use channels associated with the work (e.g. contact information provided on the ideas page) to explore your project idea.

Note that all Eclipse Foundation communication channels are public. Anything that you send to any of our mailing lists will be preserved in our publicly accessible archives.

Please encourage anybody who is interested in participating with the Eclipse Foundation to join this list!

Thanks,
