Re: [soc-dev] Welcome to the "soc-dev" mailing list

Hello soc-dev folks,

I wanted to introduce myself to those on the list since I have just submitted my draft proposal for summer 2018 in to hopefully receive some comments before final submissions are due.

I'm Oren. I'm a computer science student at the City University of New York, Hunter College, and I'm excited about the possibility of contributing my work to the Eclipse Foundation. I like table-top strategy games, baseball, and brewed beverages. I'm also excited about JDK10!

I've been working with my department assisting on research on automated code refactoring by implementing procedural type inferencing algorithms into refactoring participants for relevant Eclipse JDT core / UI plugins. It's a project that my mentor at school believes is ideal to work on as a GSOC project in terms of both scale and complexity. It is not one of the suggested projects but I have thoroughly fleshed out my plan in the proposal letter, so I'm quite interested in hearing some feedback prior to the deadline. I have shared the draft through the GSOC web interface, but if any mentors who might be interested want to take a look, e-mail me and I can send you a link to the document.

Looking forward to hearing from and getting to know some of you.

Thanks,

Oren Friedman
