Re: [soa-iwg] New topic for todays conf call

Cedric Brun is also working on a discovery mecanism [0] for the Amalgam project. He generalized the Mylyn code (no references to connectors or modeling stuff). The code depends only on EMF core, P2 and Eclipse UI. He plans to commit the code in few weeks. His idea is to have something functional as soon as possible to integrate it in the Helios release. And then, once the Mylyn code is generic and available into P2, he plans to use it.

Can I suggest you express you interest on the bug. It will be useful to
know who all is interested in this feature.

Ian,
thank you for the pointer. Definitely sounds like what we are looking
for. I will monitor the bug and I think as soon as P2 provides the
feature we will use it for the installer.

Zsolt,

If the SOA package wants to do a QuickInstall, I would suggest you
take
a look at the Mylyn Connector which is going to be moved into the p2
component. It does something very similar to Pulsar but has more
flexibility. I am actually hoping Pulsar will migrate to the Mylyn
Connector. More details about the move to p2 are at

Hi,
at our ESE meeting all participants agreed about the importance of
deployment as a link between tooling and runtime. We at SOPERA
recently started to brainstorm about this topic and got some ideas I
want to discuss with you in our conf call today. The idea is
basically
to provide an installer for platform specific deployers with the SOA
package very similar to the QuickInstall provided in Pulsar for
platform specific SDK's.

Cheers,
Zsolt
