Re: [sequoyah-dev] [GSoC] Weekly status report template

Hi,

Accomplished last week
These last two weeks I worked on fixing bugs that were reported by my tutors, they helped me a lot giving me fast feedback for each patch sent.
The main bug fixed was do the editor handle with an i18n folder located anywhere in the project.

Planned for this week
This week I want do that the editor handle with a folder with any name and continue working with my tutors testing and finding other bugs.

Hi,

Accomplished last week
How I had planned I did some corrections in the string handling, now it's able to handle with multi-line strings.
Furthermore, I uploaded the first version of the project [1] which can do correctly the basic things like add, remove, insert and change a string and a file.

Planned for this week
This week I want to continue testing the editor to find eventually bugs, as well as improve the documentation of the code.

Hi,

Accomplished last week
This week, I improved the code in some aspects like:
- The editor handle with all messages properties file in a package, that is with files of the type  "messages_en.properties" and "messages_en_US.properties".
- I cleaned the code, removing some debug and comment lines.
- Also, I done some tests with string with special characters

Planned for this week
For this week, I want that the code handle with all types of string, in my tests, I saw that for string with, for example, "\n\" the code doesn't work correctly. Furthermore, I will improve the documentation of the code.

Thank you for your attention
Heve a nice week

Hi,

Accomplished last week
This week I finished importants functionalities of the project ,i.e, we are able to add/remove/update a string and also add/update/remove a localization file.

Planned for this week
For this week, I want to improve the code in some aspects like:
- The editor must be able to handle with all messages properties file in a package, now we handle just with the properties files in the "i18n" folder
- I will test the plugin for some specials values for one string, for example, string with special characters. Eventually do some specials cases

Furthermore I want to start the documentation and "clean" the code, i.e., remove some lines of debugs and tests
Finally, I have tomorrow my weekly meeting with my mentors.

Thank you for your attention
Heve a nice week

Lucas DE CASTRO

This week I took an important step, more specifically, the project can open correctly a property file and recognize correctly the nature of the project

Also I discussed with my tutors a possible structure for dealing with the properties files - load the keys and values.

Tomorrow I will have my weekly meeting with Daniel and Marcel to discuss  the source code and propose new milestones.

A small problem I had this week was to debug the code, because eclipse stopped when I tried it. So I started to debug manually.

This week I would like that the project were able to read and modify properties files.

In order to do that I continued what I had begun in lasts weeks - work in the package org.eclipse.sequoyah.localization.pde. Friday I sent a bug fix 349735 showing the begin of this work.

During the weekend I kept changing the methods implemented in this package and did some tests on the Android version to better understand some of the considerations made. Furthermore I started a documentation of this package, explaining the methods and giving some examples.

Tomorrow I will correct some errors in org.eclipse.sequoyah.localization.pde.manager and make the weekly meeting with my tutors to they help me in some issues and set the milestones of this week.

Accomplished last two weeks:
  • These last two weeks I worked on the new schema that will make the editor understand Eclipse projects, in order to do that I worked on the package "org.eclipse.sequoyah.localization.pde"
  • Also I finished the french translation of some components [1]
Planned for this week
  •  I will have a meeting tomorrow with my tutors, who will help me with some issues and also help to fix the milestones for the next weeks.
Last weeks I've been a little busy with the last tests and work at my university, but now I can devote myself completely to the project.

Hi,

First of all, thank you very much for this opportunity, I am so glad to work with you so I will do my best and work hard on this project.

- Planned for last week

For last week I had planned to get familiar with the Eclipse environment and install  development environment.

- Accomplished last week

In order to get familiar with the Eclipse environment ,  I done the tutorials:

In order to install the development environment Marcel Gorri and Daniel Pastore helped me to have exactly the same environment used by Sequoyah developers.

- Planned for this week

    For next week, I want:

    • Get more familiar with the Sequoyah code
    • Do my first patch
    • And make tests by myself with the code.

- Risks

One risk that will be present until first week of June, is the university works. This month I have a lot of works and tests, but I will do my best. I plan to work 15h

- Main obstacles

For this adaptation phase, I think I will not have an other obstacle different of the university tests.

Again, thank you very much!

Regards,

Lucas De Castro

Hi Lucas,

as it was suggested to other projects, it would be useful if we could have some sort of mechanism to follow up the status of your activities. It is good for both sides in terms of planning and organization. This way, our suggestion is that you send us every week to this mailing list, a short status report containing the following info:

- Planned for this week

- Accomplished this week

- Planned for next week

- Risks

- Main obstacles

You could send this report every monday, for instance, and if you join our open meeting, we could discuss any point you believe it is necessary in this meeting. (of course, we can have other meetings, if necessary)

If you have any comments or suggestions, please let us know.

Best,

 Marcel
