As most of you likely know, Eclipse foundation is phasing out CVS support at the end of 2012. All projects (like Sapphire) that are still on CVS have been asked to formulate a plan for migrating to Git. The Eclipse.org webmaster will take care of the actual migration step. All of the history will be preserved. Once the migration starts, CVS repository is locked. There would not be a period where both are functional. So, we need to do two things… 1. Decide on a time frame that will cause the least disruption. I suggest that we plan on doing this immediately after Juno ships (our 0.5.1 release). Let’s use July 9th as the working date. 2. All committers and contributors should be getting familiar with Git. There are a variety of books and other sources available and anyone can create a private repo on GitHub to experiment.
