Re: [rt-pmc] Vert.x 3.3 upcoming release stuck

The process is described in the Eclipse Project Handbook [1].

AFAICT, the PMC has not been asked to approve the release and review documentation.

The review materials must be approved by the PMC; send an email to the PMC’s mailing list asking for approval. The PMC will respond with feedback or a simple "+1" indicating approval.

I most often start my engagement in the release process when I receive the IP Log or otherwise notice you doing things that prepare for the review.

The EMO will likely notice that you’ve created the release record, connected with your PMC, and submitted an IP Log for review by the IP team and will take steps to initiate the actual review. However, since there is a great deal of variability in this process, send an email to emo@xxxxxxxxxxx stating your intent to release.

Wayne

Wayne,

can you tell me what went wrong to miss the release review ?

I believe I filled the information in time for June 1. Obviously the CQ blocked the review, however that being said I haven’t received any message that it was not going to happen.

will do for the rest.

The release review is supposed to happen this week I think (last of may), but it is hard to know because I can’t find anymore such information on the website (why?)

The information that you've already provided regarding the release is on the project's PMI page [1]. More generally, the release process is described in the Eclipse Project Handbook [2].

When the review record was created, it seems that the review date was set for June 1 with an anticipated release date of June 14. The opportunity for the June 1st review date has passed, and the next available slot is June 15. If we can get the CQs cleared and the IP Log approved before that date, we're good-to-go.

As I mentioned in an earlier private email, please engage with the IP Team to ensure that they know of your constraints and ask for consideration in their prioritization.

HTH,

Wayne

Hi,

we are going to release Vert.x 3.3 soon (a couple of weeks from now) and I we haven’t yet submitted yet the IPLog nor done the release review.

The Netty 4.1.0.CR7 CQ has been submitted weeks ago (https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=11259) . Besides Netty 4.1.0.Final was released yesterday. I have no idea of the status of this CQ that has been submitted for ages  (why?)

There is also a CQ for works-with dependencies that is unclear that it is cleared (https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=11379).

So I haven’t been able to submit an IPLog because of this missing part.

The release review is supposed to happen this week I think (last of may), but it is hard to know because I can’t find anymore such information on the website (why?)

Anyway it would be awesome if we can move forward on this for the 3.3 release.

thanks

Julien
