Re: [rt-pmc] Re: Request IP Log Review for rt.riena

Hi Christian,
WRT support for RFC119/Remote services I'd like to point out that Riena
already has enhancement request
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=274839, and I've
personally already implemented the beginnings of a Riena-based remote
services provider (CVS location described on bug).
Given ECF's existing/tested/deployed/in use support for RFC119/OSGI
remote services via the abstract remote service API (which can be
implemented by any provider/protocol...like Riena's remote
services)...this allows Riena and any other remoting/distribution
implementation to support OSGi standards simply by creating a provider.
Creating providers that implement this API is exactly what has already
been done with r-OSGi, JMS/ActiveMQ, ECF generic, JavaGroups, and
XMPP...and all of these therefore can be/are being used for implementing
remote OSGi services via the ECF remote services API. Riena will/should
be technically easy to do as well...particularly for those that are
familiar with Riena internals.
In my view this a good example of the need for runtime project
cooperation rather than competition/reimplementation/reproduction of
work...especially since the direction of the OSGi remote services
standardization itself is exactly in the direction identified by ECF
remote services (i.e. to specify discovery and distribution abstractly,
allowing for many alternative implementations).

hi rt-pmc,
I got some feedback from Jochen Krause concerning the Standards section of the Release Review doc. So I add notes about RFC 119 and JSR 330. Please find attached the modified version for which I hope to get your approval.
many thanks

Hi rt-pmc
attached are the docu ware/slides for the Riena Release Review 1.2.0. I hope I didnt forget anything.
Nothing too revolutionary was going on with Riena in the last couple of month. So its not tooo exciting feature wise. We plan a bigger shift in the API and the ease of use for Riena 2.0 with Helios.
Can I please get the approval from the PMC for the release review for EMO.
kind regards
christian
