Re: [rt-pmc] Equinox on AWS
|
Hi Ian,
I would be interested in volunteering to work with the Amazon folks
particularly around #1 on your list. Coincidently, I've been doing a
number of blog posts around the issue of building and managing
Equinox-based appservers [1]...and it seems that some of that (and
underlying work) may be of use.
So I volunteer to push this forward. Please LMK what is desired/arranged.

One of the action items I took from a recent PMC meeting was to speak
with Amazon about hosting Equinox and other EclipseRT technologies on
EC2. I have had the initial conversation and Amazon seems to be
interested in working with us. Right now we identified two main areas:
1. Making it easy for developers to build, test and deploy Equinox
based applications to an Equinox images hosted on EC2. The main
use case would be developers that are prototyping Equinox based
applications but don’t want to install and maintain the server
component. Amazon has technical evangelist that could help us
setup the appropriate images. We might also be able to work with
the team at Amazon that has created Eclipse plugins for EC2.
2. The other area was scalability testing. Amazon is working with
some load testing tools but is open to others. Are there
specific types of load testing tools that people use for testing
RAP or Equinox?
The next step is for 1-2 technical people from the EclispeRT team to
have a phone call with the Amazon technical people. Is there anyone
that wants to volunteer to help push this forward?
Thanks
Ian
