[rmf-dev] Preparation of upcoming RMF release 0.13.0 / Request for testing / Eclipse Sphinx integration

Dear RMF users and RMF developers,

the RMF team is currently preparing release 0.13.0 of the Requirements Modeling Framework which is expected at the end of August.

This release focuses on bugfixes and improved integration with the Eclipse infrastructure.
  • bugfixes
  • support for Eclipse Mars
  • oomph setup
  • contributions from gerrit are automatically verified by build jobs
  • cleanup of build scripts

The latest code is available via p2 update site. Please install RMF into your Mars or Luna environment and let us know if you experience any issues.

Upcoming release 0.14.0 (End of 2015):

There is some overlap between functionality that is required by the RMF editors and functionality that is provided by the Eclipse Sphinx project.
In order to avoid different solution for the same thing and in order to get the most value out of limited development resources, I think we should make use of more feature from Eclipse Sphinx in RMF. 

A first prototype is available in branch 469356_QueryServices of the RMF git repository. 

This Sphinx integration enables the following features:

  • multi file support (assembly a "model" out of multiple files while respecting the scope that is defined by project dependencies)
  • multi editor support (sync between multiple editors and views that operate on the same file
  • multi file model search
  • integration with INCQuery for fast naviagion through ReqIF models
  • XML schema validation
  • workflow engine, validation engine, etc...

Additionally, it is expected that the switch to Sphinx can eleminate some RMF bugs.
