Re: [riena-dev] Committer vote for Elias Volanakis has been approved by the PMC

Just to clear up things.

Elias works for Innopract and that is not going to change. He helped us, the Riena team in the last 4 weeks to prepare a chunk of code so that its ready to be committed to CVS. He will continue to work in that area.

I understand that it would better to show visible impact on the code in CVS as a contribution before you get nominated as committer. However moving existing code into open source means that you have to prepare that code before it can get committed and work on those parts remains
invisible.

Sorry if that wasn't clarified from what I wrote in the proposal.

technology.riena Committers,
This automatically generated message marks the PMC's approval of the vote
for Elias Volanakis's full Committer status on the technology.riena
project. The next step is for the project lead to return to the portal and
fill in the CVS package and employer information for Elias Volanakis.

The PMC's comments were: I approve this election. However I will hesitate to do so again for similar elections. Here's why: I read "Elias joined our group" as "Elias joined our company" and that is explicitly a disallowed reason for someone to become a committer. A person should be nominated as a committer based on their contributions to the project, not based on their employment situation. I trust that Elias will be a fine addition to the project, but in the future the nominations must provide more evidence of
contribution *to the project itself*.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your project
lead, PMC member, or the EMO <emo@xxxxxxxxxxx>
