Subject: Re: [rcptt-dev] RCP TT - doesn't support the applications built on eclipse 3.5.2

Hi Sivaraman,

We used  to have Eclipse 3.5 support in older versions, before RCPTT was open sourced, but about half a year ago we dropped 3.5 support, as it's aready 5 years old and we didn't have any customers who use Eclipse 3.5. So currently we support AUTs based on 3.6 – 4.5 version range of Eclipse platform.

I've created an issue https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=456871 to investigate whether we can add 3.5 support back, I expect we'll have some news by the end of this month.

Could you please answer on a couple of questions?

- Is Eclipse 3.5 still widely used by your opinion?

Most of application / product development teams are stringent to upgrade the versions. In my opinion 3.5 is not widely used, but used in some legacy application.

- For your application, are there any mid-term migration plans on a newer platform version?

No, at present we don’t have any plan of upgrading the eclipse platform of this legacy application.

Thanks,

Ivan

Hello All

I am new to eclipse rcp TT, trying to configure the testing job with eclipse RCP application which was built on eclipse 3.5.2.

Whenever I try to associate the application under testing tool project, I get error message as mentioned in below screen shot.

Please provide some guidance to overcome this issue.

Thanks

Sivaraman K
