Re: [rap-dev] Leaving the RAP Project

Ralf, first of all, let me thank you and express my deepest respect for your high-quality work in the RAP project!

Maybe you didn't know this but I counted your commits to the RAP project over the last years, and found more than 2.500... an impressive number, and these were only the ones that listed you as 'author'. I know there are many many other commits which you influenced and reviewed over the years, not to speak about the many fruitful discussions that we had in the team! It was a pleasure to work with and to learn from you in the RAP project. It's good to know that you are still around on the same floor just two offices away.

At the same time I'm happy that Ivan is willing to take over the co-leadership role. He is the ideal person to take over that role, and as you wrote, he knows probably every single line of code better than anyone else in the universe! With Ivan as a co-lead I'm convinced that we can successfully continue our work in the RAP project.

Thank you, Ivan, for stepping forward, and thank you again, Ralf!

Markus

Hi all,

Over the last year, I became more and more involved in Tabris.js, an exciting project that I've helped to kick off. It was my wish to have more time to help bringing this project forward. Therefore I decided to leave the RAP team and step back as a project lead.

Looking back at my time with RAP, I'm happy with what we've achieved together. RAP has become a stable and well known part of the Eclipse universe, so I don't feel guilty about moving on. I will, however, miss the quality-focused, responsible atmosphere in the team, the good discussions and pairing sessions. Working with you was an exceptional experience!

I'd like to propose Ivan as my successor. You all know Ivan - and he knows you and all of your bug reports ;-). When it comes to RAP, Ivan is probably the most knowledgable person on the planet, and together with Markus as co-lead, I'm sure the project is in very good hands.

Best regards,
Ralf
