Re: [rap-dev] Move WAR Products to RAP Tools?

I haven't used it in the last year, but I am convinced that it is very useful especially for everyone starting with RAP development. It helps creating and testing a RAP based (or: OSGi based) application in a very short time.

Moving it to the RAP Tools project has another nice side effect: By moving it from the Libra project (still in incubation state) to the RAP project it would end as part of a mature project after a graduation review. This definitively helps to advertise the tooling and to integrate it into one of the EPP packages.

Thanks,
Markus

Hi RAP devs,

The WAR Products tooling that is currently hosted by the Eclipse Libra
project [1] which started to develop enterprise tools for OSGi. This
project is now unmaintained and about to be terminated [2]. Should we
adopt the WAR Products tooling in RAP Tools?

Pro:
- we advertise this tooling in our developer's guide
- we know that it is used by some parts of our community
- it depends only on PDE, has a tycho build, moving should be pretty painless

Contra:
- it's not specific to RAP
- we'd take over the responsibility for it (not sure if it uses PDE internals)
- we'd also adopt the bugs (am I right that there are 32 ones open?)
- AFAIK, we don't use this tooling anymore by ourselves in favor of
automated tycho builds

Thoughts? Alternatives?

Regards, Ralf
