Re: [qvto-dev] Milestones repositories

Sounds reasonable.

Then I'll clean up  'milestones/compositeArtifacts.jar' so that it'll include milestones only from the current release.

  Sergey.

Hi Sergey

I agree with Adolfo.

Retention policies are often of the form of "keep 3 most recent milestones", including RCs, so once a release is out, milestones are well past their sell by date. old nightlies and interims are even more useless.

I'm certainly guilty of some failures to clean up repositories. Generally it is something low down the priority list so that releng's tend to overlook it.

It is unlikely that we would ever have time to support a user who decided to stick at M2, so there is no point keeping M2 as an available download. If such a user cares so much about M2 they should persist it themselves.

Hi Adolfo ,

Thank you for cleaning up the 'milestones/3.4.0/compositeArtifacts.jar'. Stale links appeared as the result of manual cleaning of unnecessary milestones (M1, M2, ..) for 3.4.0

As for parent milestone I'm not sure why 'compositeArtifacts.jar' should list milestones only from the latest version. For example I see that 'qvod' milestone lists previous versions.

Hi Folks,

It was brought to my attention that milestones/3.4.0 repository was causing some troubles. Indeed the composite repo was declaring 11 children repositories whereas it actually only contains 4. I've fixed that.

On the other hand, I'm wondering why milestones repository is composing milestones repositories from previews releases. In my opinion it should only compose Mars milestones, that is milestones/3.5.0. I let you Sergey to take actions in case you consider it necessary.

Cheers,
Adolfo.
