Christoph,

What platform are you on? This would be a question to ask the the Eclipse Project. I’d start with the eclipse.platform forum (https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=thread&frm_id=11) or you could open a bug against the Platform product.

Whenever I start Eclipse, one of my four CPUs is at 100% all the time. This is true even if I start Eclipse and point it to a non-existing directory for the workspace, so an empty workspace gets created. The usage at 100% stays even if I just stare at empty views not touching either mouse or keyboard.

 

A CPU monitor flags the application "java" as the CPU hog....as if one of the java processes executes a busy wait loop, waiting for something that never appears.

 

As soon as I exit Eclipse, my CPU load is back to normal.

 

Anyone seen that before ?
