Re: [ptp-user] eclipse PTP + cmake ( + synchronized projects) - again

I think I was trying to state something that is in agreement with Steve and Tijskens – I think cmake support is really important.

I’d like to support this opinion :-)

Christoph,

I see enough interest in cmake that adding such documentation and support would be very valuable, in my opinion.  Step 1 on formalizing quality cmake support…

I beg to differ. I know of at least one large project at LSU (HPX) that's based on cmake, and this is primarily because of its
claims to support multiple OS's better. It may be that if PTP supports cmake well, it will gain followers.

Cheers,
Steve

Hi,

there was an earlier thread

with the same topic. I just got a cmake project to work on, and re-reading and contemplating on the posts in this thread, I decided to follow a suggestion by Jeffrey Overbey and replace the name of the make executable in C/C++ Build category (under the Builder Settings tab) by some cmake_wrapper.sh (still to be written).

Once I am done with that (and after having verified that this indeed integrates nicely with PTP synchronized projects), is there a "best practices" corner in the PTP documentation where I should drop my experiences ? Or a wiki ? Or even FAQ, albeit I am not aware that this question is really asked very frequently...

Thinking about what cmake_wrapper.sh should look like, it seems to me that this script might be fairly general (i.e. may be reused in other projects without change). So it might be worthwhile to attach it to whatever place will be suggested above. Any comments or suggestions ?
