Re: [ptp-dev] New remote infrastructure in Luna

I wouldn't have thought the preferences would be blank. Maybe some part of remote tools is not installed?

For the Remote Environments view, you need to remove the perspectiveExtensions from org.eclipse.ptp.remotetools.environment.ui/plugin.xml.

My mac is currently getting repaired at Apple, so I don't have a workspace set up to do it.

Thanks!
There's a Remote Tools section of Preferences, and all the pages are blank.
Is that as expected?

Also, I can't find where the Remote Environments view is included.
We need to remove it from the default workbench at startup.

If the new plugins are installed, you should see the preference page Remote Development>Connections. You can use this to create/delete/edit connection information.

By default the Jsch provider should be set. All the remote dialogs use the default provider if one is set, so you shouldn't even get the option to change it. If a default provider is not set then you'll see a combo that lets you select one.

OK so it appears I'm the only one testing parallel package in Luna.
And I'm out of touch since not working full-time....

I want to get the user docs right.

What else am I missing?
I vaguely remember remote tools being moved but am obviously not aware of what is supposed to be being seen by users.
Because things still seems to work except as you know i was seeing a need to select Remote Service Provider.
I guess I get the 'correct' config when i install all of PTP on top of parallel package.  Right?

I'm trying to get org.eclipse.remote added to the parallel package per
which brought this to the forefront.
My EPP repo is not behaving and I have filed https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=435677 hoping Markus can help. It's an easy fix.

Should the user see any indication of JSch provider?
I assume that's the "Built-in SSH" in Preferences.
If that's set correctly, then user should see no indication of needing to pick a remote service provider now?

How do you edit a connection (e.g. password wrong)?  Not in remote Environments?  That view is there by default (in my RC1 parallel package + PTP nightly)

I need to get the docs right, and it appears i have a lot (more)  screenshots to re-grab now.

Can someone help me rewrite the docs on remote tools?
and other places indicates that Remote Tools is the de facto RSP to use.
