Re: [ptp-dev] Looking for EMS (Env Mgmt Sys) XSEDE test systems

I’d be suspicious about that post… More seriously, certainly both LSU and ANL had softenv, not sure about their current status (Steve, can you comment on the current queenbee?).  I believe, but have not had a chance to verify (hence my slow response to your email, Brian, I’m sorry about that), that all of the rest of the xsede systems use the old modules implementation, not the new lmod system.  Some of them (kraken, trestles) emulate a hierarchical module setup conceptually similar to what is on the TACC systems, but of course syntactically different.  Finally, I know that the Yellowstone system at NCAR is running lmod.

I don’t know of anyone not using an environment management system, that is something that is not a desirable option (but Jeff included in the EMS for completeness, for say, the case of interacting with a lone linux machine).

Googling turns up a few systems, including ANL and LSU. Maybe someone could help getting an account on one of these machines?

Condor and Steele (at purdue) used to use softenv but they've switched since the shift from teragrid to xsede. I can't find any sign of any xsede system still using softenv. I interact with it mostly at ALCF (cetus for example) which isn't on xsede.

I'm asking about XSEDE since that is the only place where I have an account. The TACC's Stampede has lmod so I'm covered there, but I need to find systems that use modules, softenv and nothing.
