[ptp-dev] Linux platform filter in photran.intel-feature

Hi Bill,

(Copying ptp-dev)

Quick question. I was wondering if you might consider removing the
platform filter in photran.intel-feature. I know that Intel only
supports Eclipse on Linux -- but here's my reasoning...

1. Since PTP introduced synchronized remote projects last year,
they've gained a lot of traction. We expect them to quickly become
the "norm" for cluster/supercomputer application development in
Eclipse. Many of our users run Windows or Mac OS X but are using
synchronized projects to develop codes for remote Linux machines.
However, due to the platform filter, they can't use the Intel MBS
toolchain for this task, since they aren't running Linux locally.

2. I was told yesterday that, due to a bug in Tycho, the Juno
aggregator can't include the Intel feature as long as it has the linux
platform filter. So, either we'll have to exclude the Intel Fortran
Compiler Support feature from the Juno aggregation, or remove the
platform filter. Obviously, it would be better if the Tycho bug would
get fixed, but I think we're the only project that's affected by it,
so I doubt it's high on their priority list.

Thanks for considering it.

Jeff
