Re: [platform-update-dev] update manager and proxy authentication

Hello,
when you say "so the user is prompted to provide them every time a new http
connection is made.
"
On the same realm ? if so yes, there is a bug, if the realm is different then it may be 'unfortunately' working as designed
The issue here is 'securely storing the userid/password and credential' of the user on the local machine
I keep them in memory until eclipse closes

can you confirm ?

[platform-update-dev] update manager and proxy authentication

Eclipse doesn't have a preference page to set the username/password to
use, so the user is prompted to provide them every time a new http
connection is made. For my installation this means that I have to
enter these details more than 50 times to scan for updates.

This is very important for corporate users (those that use microsoft
products like ISA proxy server) especially now that the Callisto
release main delivery mechanism will be based on the update manager
many.

I have opened bug
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=123108 to track this a
month ago. I am sending this email to the dev list because this M6 is
the final milestone for Eclipse 3.2 and this has to be fixed before callisto
rools out.

Thanks
