RE: [platform-update-dev] Links file change proposal

You know, I was just looking at this last night... before I
ask questions, though, a comment: this sounds like a very
reasonable proposal.

OK, my questions. I did my best to follow the instructions
for creating link files by hand, and just could not get
things working correctly. I was under the impression that
you should be able to do the following:

- Unpack a feature (a.b.c) into directory $FEATUREPATH/a.b.c
- Create $FEATUREPATH/a.b.c/.eclipseextension as per
  the documentation
- Create $ECLIPSEINSTALL/links/a.b.c.link with a path
  entry that points to $FEATUREPATH/a.b.c

When I did that, Eclipse didn't find the linked feature.
Going to the update manager and linking from there seemed
to work fine.

Are there more explicit instructions on how to set
up links manually?
