Re: [platform-ui-dev] Copyright updates standards for contributors

Dani, yes I saw that you are using a different format. ;-) and I that trigger my email. I think we should  have a consistent approach in platform.ui. I don't mind changing the default (even though I prefer our current default). Lets see what others think.

Best regards, Lars

JDT (and I) always use the longer format:

John Doe <John.Doe@xxxxxxxxxxx> - Unwanted items in the Customize functionality on the Intro - https://bugs.eclipse.org/420843

for two reasons:

1. one sees what was contributed without going to bugzilla
2. one can click on the bug URL

Hi,

I see that https://git.eclipse.org/r/#/c/20183/3 recommends a different copyright format than typically used in platform ui.

I think it would be beneficial for new contributors to get consistent advice about how the copyright header should be updated. AFAIK the currently used format is:

John Doe <John.Doe@xxxxxxxxxxx> - Bug 429728

https://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/How_to_Contribute#Coding_Conventions

Paul / Daniel (Rolka) what do you think as components leads?

Best regards, Lars
