Jared,

Editor inputs can be of different classes, provided by plugins themselves. 
 So getting the editor input would defeat the purpose of editor 
references, which is to allow more lazy activation of editors.

Quick question:

Would it be possible to provide editor inputs from editor references or 
would 
that be too expensive?

I want to get the inputs for editor references and I'm currently forced to 

load the whole editor part to get at the info.
