Ashok,

The Eclipse Team API does not support
the two operations you mentioned. The purpose of the Eclipse Team API is
to support the integration of repository tooling into Eclipse (e.g. Team
context menu, decorators and control over the local copy file area).

I would like know using Eclipse Team API,
is it possible to 
1. connect to any SCM 
2. Checkout any file from SCM by providing
the version no.
 
If not than for what Eclipse Team API is
used.
