[platform-team-dev] RE: Logical Model Integration enhancements

Michael,

Thanks for the information. We didn't have any specific enhancements in
mind. Since logical model integration support was introduced in 3.2 we
thought, perhaps, that enhancements may have been identified as
developers began to use it. Also, there was this mention in the Team
3.3 plan:

"Logical Model Integration: There are several logical model integration
related issues that were not addressed in 3.2 that we plan on addressing
in 3.3."

Some background: Our plugin enables users to define mappings and
transformations between models to support semantic integration. The
models can be viewed and edited in a number of Eclipse views including
the project explorer. The models and all associated metadata are
persisted in xml files within the user's Eclipse project along with
other project related files. We would like users to be able to utilize
a source control repository to manage changes to their project but we
want to present the differences as model differences not as xml file
differences. We would also like to be able automatically check out
files when model elements are edited and have model elements decorated
with corresponding team decorators. It appears that the logical model
integration support was designed to support precisely these
capabilities. We are, however, struggling a bit with understanding
exactly how to do this. The filesystem example is a start but
additional information or examples would be extremely helpful. Any
advice or pointers to information would be most appreciated.

Lori

Lori,

I think the answer to all your questions is "no". There wasn't any
significant enhancement made in 3.3 and. to my knowledge, there are no
plans
to do significant work on logical model support in 3.4. Out of
curiosity,
where you hoping that particular enhancements were being made or are you
trying to scope out the effort to adopt changes since 3.2?
