Hello Ubuntu folks,

This might be relevant from a technical point of view:
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS To Drop Default Unity Desktop, Will Switch Back To GNOME (April 5th)

The reason is that Gnome (as of Gtk3.20) has Wayland support.

This means that there might be potential Wayland on Ubuntu some time down the road.
