Tree does not always fully expand in debugger

Scott please keep these in mind in addition
to the remaining work items you mentioned.  #3 is yours, and #4 and
#8 do not have reproducable steps (so if you find some please comment).
 If there are other particularly bad problems that aren't on the list
then please be sure to log them and/or give them priority for fixing.
