Re: [platform-swt-dev] Re HOW to remove title bar of SWT Shell afte creation

The best way to post a snippet is to open a feature request in the eclipse bugzilla (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/ and select eclipse - platform - swt).
Paste the snippet into the feature request. Then, if it is acceptable, one of the committers can put it into the database.

In this case, the snippet is missing a bit of code, because as Steve said,

You would need to call isParentable() to see if reparenting is supported, and if not, you'll have to fail gracefully somehow, like dispose & recreate the control inside the new composite (assumes you know or can determine the essential state of the control).

Could someone post Tom's code as a snippet?  I think this would be
useful for a broader audience.  Thanks.

Control.setParent() is not supported on all platforms.  I suppose it's
possible to test for this and run alternate code.

Hi,

Well then it might be interesting how the platform team solved this e.g.
if you have a View which is visible in more than one perspective it can
not be recreated but has to reparented. The same is true if you detach a
view isn't it?
