Is there any solution other than removing
the offending #define?  What do C projects do to get around this problem.
 Perhaps they use the #define when developing but remove it before
they ship?

This kind of problems would show up earlier if people who build eclipse
from source
also built the native files ... Is it hard to adapt the Eclipse build system
to
handle the native files too?
