Re: [platform-swt-dev] Mac OS X port: native Tree/TreeItem

Hi Andre,

I´m frustrated and angry to see how far you succeeded implementing a
native Tree/TreeItem on OS X.
You never asked how far my implementation is or whether I stopped
the development.
In your mail you clearly state I should go on with my
implementation. So why did you do it by yourself then?

Not so quick. I never touched Tree2 and TreeItem2 after I've sent you
the mail in August.
Checkout the version with tag "CARBON_HIView" to see the last status
of my work.

Veronika announced in mid November that the SWT team has started a
new stream called "carbon_work" that abandoned HIViews because the
DataBrowser doesn't work under HIViews (my stream was parked under
"CARBON_HIView").
The contents of "carbon_work" has now become HEAD (and it still uses
emulated trees and tables...)

I checked out from HEAD tonight. In carbon2 there are native versions of Tree/TreeItems etc.
These are quite complete.
As far as I can see at the moment, in this implementation these features are missing:
1. checkboxes (grayed state!).
2. opening the Tree after closing the Tree with subtrees open doesn´t restore open containers. I don´t even know if this behaviour is a requirement for eclipse.

I could supply these if it is wanted.

This behaviour is not the meaning of "community".

I think the SWT team needs to clarify a few things here on Monday...

I am currently a little disappointed since I thought I could help completing Eclipse for OS X by supplying Tree/TreeItem.
At the moment it seems like most of the time I invested was in vain.
