Re: [platform-releng-dev] Support for feature patch builds

It is not exactly a super-simple thing and depends on several "tricks" to get around the lack of support for it in Tycho.

I have opened Bug 497840to document and discuss your request.

I'll point you to the critical pieces, and if you get it to work for your case, perhaps you could write up a nice "how to" wiki page.

Hi,

I have unsucessfully tried to build a feature patch for jdt. I have
asked on the jdt forum list on how/where the feature patch for java9
support is built so I can have a look at how they do it, but I got no reply.

In my ignorant hope that feature patch builds for projects that are
based on the releng aggregator would all look a bit similar I've come
here looking for help:

My idea is that if building a feature patch for anything based on the
releng aggregator would look similar, maybe we can try to write some
'generic' instructions so that "Patching the platform" would become as
easy as it is building it. I don't know too much about maven/tycho, so
maybe the releng-aggregator is actually of no help at all, in which case
I apologize in advance for the noise. Otherwise (in my ignorant hope
it's really a super-simple-thing) it would be great if anyone would help.

Thanks,

Felix
